For the second time in 11 days, gunmen staged an armed robbery at the Western Union branch located at the Harbour Bridge Mall in the vicinity of the Demerara Harbour Bridge, East Bank of Demerara.
The attack came around 15:00 hours yesterday. Security cameras recorded that attack at 15:11 hours.
The three bandits who appeared to be in their early twenties entered the mall and demanded that the two Western Union’s workers and its three customers lay on the floor.
“They come in and demanded everyone to lie down while they robbed all the customers of their valuables and the business,” Operator of Western Union, Paul Fraser stated.
He added that “everything” happened just like the “last time” when the gunmen entered the business entity.
He said after the men robbed his business place, they ran through the back gate of the mall and then hopped onto a motorcycle and then escaped into Bagotville Housing Scheme.
On December 23, last, three gunmen entered and robbed the money transfer agency and its customers before escaping through the back entrance of the mall. Surveillance cameras at the Harbour Bridge captured footage of the men while they were running out from the mall but no arrest has been made so far.
Plans are now being out in place to have a camera installed at his business as soon as possible, according to Fraser.
