– cops to seek murder charge against spouse
Police are to seek murder charges against an Ogle, East Coast Demerara man in connection with the beating to death of his 34-year-old reputed wife.
The victim, Maureen Ramlogan, of Lot 29, Area ‘G’ Ogle, died at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) two Fridays ago, from injuries she allegedly sustained on November 26 at the hands of her spouse. A postmortem examination performed yesterday revealed that she sustained fractured ribs and other injuries.
Kaieteur News understands that on November 30, 2013, neighbours found a semi-conscious and badly beaten Ramlogan in her house. She was admitted to the GPHC but was discharged about a week later. However, she was readmitted after her condition worsened. She eventually succumbed on December 20.
Ramlogan’s reputed husband, David Boodram, is presently on remand for grievous bodily harm in connection with the November 26 beating of Ramlogan. Following yesterday’s postmortem, police indicated that they will seek legal advice with the aim of having Boodram charged for murder.
Ramlogan is among some 23 women to have been slain this year, with most being victims of domestic violence.
