The inclement weather that pervaded the country on Boxing caused the postponement of a number of activities. One such affected was the big Boxing Day horserace meet organised by the Kennard Memorial Turf Club (KMTC) at the Club’s entity Bush Lot Farm Corentyne, Berbice.
Eight races were slated for the day while over $9M in trophies and cash incentives were up for grabs.
The heavy rain fall left the entire KMTC arena inundated forcing the organisers to call an emergency meeting at which the decision was made to call off the day’s action. However all is not lost since a new date has been set for 19th January 2014. Over 60 horses, most of which were already at the venue and were set to race in the traditional Boxing Day meet, had entered.
All arrangements remain the same for the new date. The events listed are the feature A and lower event for a hefty pole position taking of S1.5M and trophy over one mile.
The co-feature event is for 3 years old West Indian maiden and Guyana bred horses also over one mile.
The other events are the race for E and lower horses, the D3 maiden gallop which will also see the animals cover a distance of six furlongs, the race for two year old animals, the G1 and Lower race. There is the race for animals classified I3 and lower, while there is also a race for horses classified J and lower.
The outstanding jockeys, trainer and stable will all received trophies and other accolades compliments of Trophy Stall Bourda Market and the organisers.
