The refurbished M.V. Malali, along with the two Chinese ferries have been operating on a double schedule daily, rendering services to persons traveling to Georgetown and back.
Employees indicate while management has installed three ferries at Christmas time, they are not sure if those ferries would continue to operate after the Holiday season.
The employees added that the Good/Hope Supenaam Ferry Stelling continue to record an increased daily flow of passengers leading up to the Christmas Holidays, since the new service is more convenient, especially for business people who are taking advantage of crossing the river with their vehicles, making it easier for them to return the same day.
Meanwhile, a speed boat operator at Supenaam opined that persons continue to use the ferry service at Good-Hope because it is much safer, taking into consideration the harmful effects of the rainy weather. The young man added that indeed there has been a decrease in the number of persons using the speed boats.
Over 300 vehicles and passenger continue to utilize the service at Supenaam Stelling. The Good-Hope Ferry service has been operating effectively ever since repairs were done to a section of the Stelling, which was damaged after a laden rice truck fell under the bridge resulting in a huge hole.
