Almost 200 Children from across the Essequibo Coast, and the Upper and Lower Pomeroon, were feted by First Lady, Deolatchmie Ramotar who hosted the event at the Charity Primary School on Thursday. The event was part of ongoing countrywide activities through her foundation.
The excited children also got the opportunity to participate in games, dance, songs and face painting. Thursday’s visit was the third to the Region since Mrs. Ramotar assumed duties as First Lady in 2011.
Mrs. Ramotar told the children that while most of their parents could not have afforded them a gift, especially at Christmas time, her Foundation affords such treats since it has children at heart. At this time, she wanted family to be happy, she said.
The First Lady Foundation is a registered Non-Governmental Organization which was established almost three years ago. The organization also supports the elderly.
