If one is to go by what was witnessed during the round of 16 that ended until the wee hours of the morning then it is only justifiable to conclude that tonight’s quarter-final and semi-final engagements would produce some sizzling action when the Georgetown segment of the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Futsal Competition resumes, at the national Cultural Centre Tarmac, starting at 20:00 hrs.
In the opening encounter, Berlin Massive tackle Queen Street of Tiger Bay and this clash is anticipated to set the tone for the rest of the evening.
Berlin Massive, narrow winners over Globe Yard in their last encounter, will no doubt look for outstanding performances from Michael Payne, Akine Collins and the dependable Devon Charles, who has been ‘Mr. Reliable’ for them to boost their chances of advancing to the semi-finals, while Queen Street’s fearsome twosome of Deon Alfred and Leon Fredericks performances could prove pivotal towards the team’s quest to move on.
In the second game, Hope Street of Tiger Bay will look to advance in their clash against West Front Road ‘Gold is Money’ and this battle promises to be a sizzler.
The energetic and equally prolific Wrensford Coleridge, who has displayed tremendous form throughout the tournament, will once again be called on to lead them over the line and he is expected to be supported by the likes of Dwayne Dickson and Dennis Caledenia.
West Front Road Michael Oie and Randolph Wagner and Wendell Pedro are as deadly as they come and they’ve also been in terrific touch so here we have a titanic duel to make the last four.
The Stevedore Housing Scheme versus California Square is a tricky one to call since both teams,
Stevedore Housing Scheme will be led by Steven Dolphin and also includes Fitzroy Weatherspoon, while Christopher Darlington is expected to do the same for California Square.
Island All star’s Alpha McPhoy has been magnificent so far and along with Paul Porter and Yannick Peters they present a formidable trio to contain, while Albouystown ‘B’ with the youthful Marlon Nedd leading their attack should not be underestimated. He will be supported the Roy Cassou in the final quarter-final match.
The winners of the first two matches will clash in the first semi-final, while the survivors of the final two games will square off in the other semi-final.
