The Guyana Squash Association in collaboration with its number one corporate sponsor Digicel continued to host play in the Farfan & Mendes Junior Christmas Tournament which is being held at the Georgetown Club Squash courts. The event will conclude today with several matches starting at 11:00am with the presentation of prizes following the action on court.
Matches continued Thursday night, Friday and yesterday with play in the categories being contested. In results from some of the matches played, mainly Thursday:

Aliyah Persaud defeated Alexander Persaud 11 – 8,9 – 11, 11 – 9
Nechemiyah Levans defeated Paige Fernandes 11 – 2, 11 – 2
Kirsten Gomes beat Tome Reis 11 – 2, 11 – 3
Category E
Jamila da Silva defeated Nathan Rahaman 11 – 9, 6 – 11, 11- 7
Madison Fernandes defeated Daniel Lowe 13 – 11, 8 – 11, 11 – 7
Rajiv Lee defeated Michael Alphonso 12 – 10, 13 – 11
Category D
John Phang defeated Demetrius De Abrue 8 – 11, 11 – 6, 11- 5, 11 – 2
Jonathan Edwards defeated Zachary Persaud 13 – 11, 11 – 0, 11- 1

Category F
Nechemiyah Levans proved to be too strong for both Aliyah and Alexander Persaud. He defeated Alexander two games to love 11 – 3, 11 – 1 and then also beat Aliyah two games to love 11 – 1, 11 – 3.
The other match played in this category was between Kirsten Gomes and Paige Fernandes with Kirsten winning two games to nil 11 – 5, 11 – 6.
Category E
Madison Fernandes proved to be too strong for Nathan Rahaman winning 11 – 2, 11 – 4 and Rajiv Lee and Daniel Lowe had a competitive match but Rajiv won out in the end 11 – 7, 11 – 7.
Category D
Dominic Collins won in straight games against Demetrius DeAbreu 11 – 8, 11 – 4, 11 – 7, while the match of the evening in this category featured Jonathan Edwards against Gianni Carpenter.
Gianni won the first game 11 – 5 but Jonathan bounced back to win the second game 11 – 9. Gianni took the third 12 – 10 but when it looked as if Gianni would close out the match in the fourth game leading 10 – 9 Jonathan dug deep and won the next three points to take the game 12 – 10. However by this time Jonathan was tiring and Gianni was able to close out the match rather easily winning 11 – 4 in the fifth.
John Phang had a straight sets win over Zachary Persaud winning 14 – 12, 11 – 7, 11 – 6.
Category C
Michael Ramroop upset Anthony Islam who up to this point of time had played unbeaten in this category. Michael won in straight games 12 – 10, 11 – 8, 12 – 10. Jael Gaskin took care of Maya Collins winning 11 – 7, 11 – 5, 11 – 6 and Savannah Mendes proved to be too strong for Makeda Harding defeating her in straight games 11 – 4, 11 – 8, 11 – 9.
Category B
Shomari Wiltshire proved to be a little too strong for Rebecca Low even though Rebecca did put up a good fight. Shomari won 11 – 5, 11 – 6, 11 – 6 but the match of the evening in this category was between Alex Cheeks and Daniel Islam. Daniel won the first game 11 – 8 and when leading 10 – 9 in the second it looked as if he would go up two games to nil but Alex won the next three points and the second game 12 – 10. Daniel however bounced back to win the third game 11 – 7 but Alex won the fourth game 11 – 5 and then won the first five points in the fifth game and ended up winning this deciding game 11 – 6.
Category A
There are only four players in this category and in the first match which was played the previous evening between Taylor Fernandes and Alec Melville, Alec had proved too strong for Taylor winning 11 – 3, 11 – 6, 11 – 5. The match up on this night featured the two Wiltshire sisters, Akeila and Larissa. All three games were very competitive but Akeila prevailed in the end winning 11 – 6, 11 – 7, 11 – 8.
