The Berbice Bridge Company Inc. (BBCI) recently donated a cheque for GY$40,000 to Mr. Jeff Roberts, Chairman/Coach of the Robert’s Champions Boxing Gym following a promise to support the Boxing card which was held on November 30, 2013 on the Corentyne.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company, Mr. Omadatt Samaroo stated that he was privileged to have the opportunity to make a donation towards the Robert’s Champions Boxing Gym. The Company, he added, decided to come on board mainly due to the fact “that Robert’s Champions Boxing Gym creates great opportunity for youths thereby keeping them off the street and away from drugs, crime and other illicit activities.” “The Company will continue to sponsor other events subjected to the availability of funds at that time and is looking at a wider cross section of sports and other charitable, non–charitable, Government, Non–Government and inclusive of Entertainment,” Samaroo added.
In the past the Company has sponsored many events that benefited the communities both on the eastern and western sides of the Berbice River Bridge.
