Football buffs that followed the action in the recently staged countrywide Digicel U-18 School’s Football championship would reflect with nostalgia on the keen tussle for honours between the Waramadong Secondary School and the Christianburg Secondary School at the Police Sports Club Ground Eve Leary.
The former team had led the latter for most of the match until the dying stages when Christianburg Secondary School sunk two quick goals to claim the honours. The Waramadong supporters were disappointed but were still proud of their team after remarkable performances in earlier matches. Despite failing to clinch the top prize, the team out of region seven has impressed and fans just love to witness their brand of football.
It would therefore be regarded as good news that the interior based team is gearing up to compete in the Chico/Kashif & Shanghai Secondary Schools Football Tournament currently being contested and is scheduled to arrive in Georgetown three days ahead of their December 21st engagement with North Georgetown Secondary.
The latter team is oozing confidence after their match against Patentia Secondary Wednesday afternoon last on penalty kicks after the regulation period ended in a 1-1 stalemate. On that very day, Charlestown Secondary dismissed Lodge Secondary 2-0 in a keenly contested affair. Shane Morris converted from the penalty spot in the 5th minute for the winners while Jaleel Evans supported with a scorcher in the 74th minute.
The action resumes this afternoon with another exciting double header at the Den Amstel Community Center Ground at 16:00hrs. President College will oppose Stewartville Secondary and the winner will go on to play Berbice team, Ash Education, on Christmas Day at the BV Community Center Ground.
Uitvlugt Secondary also will play Annandale Secondary with the winner advancing to play Queens Collage on December 19 at the GFC Ground. School children will be allowed into the venue free.
