The Guyana Squash Association in collaboration with its number one corporate sponsor, Digicel, is hosting the Farfan & Mendes Junior Christmas Tournament at the Georgetown Club Ltd Squash Courts.
Matches are being contested in six categories, and on day one, play took place in four of these categories. In Category E and F matches are best of three, while in categories A to D matches are best of five sets.
This will be the final junior tournament for 2013 and several of the country’s top junior squash players are vying for honours in this skill level tournament. Players have been grouped according to their skill level. Action starts from 6:00 pm every day except for Sunday when the matches will start at 11:00 am.
Guyana players are already in full preparation for the Junior Caribbean Squash Championships which will be hosted by Bermuda in 2014 as they seek to win the Overall Team Title for the tenth year in a row and this tournament will serve as good preparation for these players and also the up and coming squash players in the Junior Squash Programme.
