With just a few days left before Sunday 15th December, all systems are in place and all roads are expected to lead to the Port Mourant Turf Club, Corentyne, Berbice as thousands are expected to swarm the venue for the much anticipated one day horserace meet.
The meet is organised by the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club and Sports Facilities (RCMTC&SF), The Port Mourant Turf Club (PMTC) and the Shariff Business Enterprise and Racing Stable of West Berbice.
With over $8M in cash, trophies and other incentives are up for grabs entries have been filling up at a rapid pace and so far over 60 horses have taken entry. The meet is also expected to see Guyana two top horses in Score’s Even and Ellie’s Vision clash in what is expected to be a mouthwatering encounter.
Eight races are carded for the day with a number of top notch events set to feature including races for the A class horses, Three year old, two year old, the E and G3 events expected to be the main draw cards.
Apart from the two top animals mentioned earlier, Settle In Seattle is also back and fully recovered and is expected to give the a run for their money. Apart from those, the newly imported overseas brigade of Rock Movie Star, Money in Return and Some Legend has come here with legendary accolades and has been fully acclimatize and will looking to stamp their authority early.
Also hard at training are California Strike, Got To Go, Grande de Roja, Donut Prince, City Tune, CP Got Even, Swing Easy, Prince Charming, Who is on the Case, The Message, Country Armagh, Red and lovely among others as they look to collect the winning prizes of the a hefty $1.2M and trophy over 6Furlongs in the main event.
The other races on the day are the – the event for 3yrs old Guyana and West Indies Bred horses, for a winning take of $600,000. The E and lower event will also have a first prize of $600,000.
The race for Two Year old Guyana Bred and West Indies Bred maiden horse will have a winner’s purse of $300,000. The horses running in the G3 and lower class race will also have an opportunity to race away with a first prize of $300,000. Three years old Guyana Bred horses will be competing for a $300,000 first prize. The ‘I’ and lower race will have a first prize of $200,000. The J, K and L class event will fetch a winning prize of $150,000 and trophy.
Outstanding individual performers including top Jockey, trainer and stable will be presented with accolades compliments of the Trophy Stall, Bourda Market and the organisers.
The race will be run under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority (GHRA).
