…turns to Culture Minister for help

The New Guyana Pharmaceutical Corporation (GPC) has denied spying on Kaieteur News. This accusation for spying was made in the December 5, edition of Kaieteur News.

In a statement issued the same day, Chairman of the New GPC, Dr Ranjisinghi’ Bobby’ Ramroop, said that the headline and story are misleading, “and are aimed at continuing the witch-hunt and campaign of hatred against the business sector and, more particularly, the Executive Chairman of Queens Atlantic Investment Inc (QAII).”
For three days this week, staff from Ramroop’s New GPC, were going through piles of Kaieteur News some dating back to 2008.
They photocopied hundreds of pages of material contained in the Kaieteur News.
In his statement, Ramroop suggested that his staff were doing research on Publisher Glenn Lall.
“NEW GPC also believes that the Kaieteur News is on a mission to intimidate anyone who is perceived to be conducting investigative research on the newspaper’s owner and publisher Mohan Glenn Lall,” Ramroop said.
He accused the staff of the Walter Rodney Archives of taking pictures of his employees spying on Kaieteur News.
He also called on Minister Dr. Frank Anthony to investigate the staff of the Archives.
Mr Lall in response said, if he was the subject of the investigation why did Ramroop’s people pull up copies of ‘Dem boys seh, Freddie Kissoon’s columns and letters, etc?
He said that a lot has been said about him and more will be said but that is the least of his worries.
He wanted Ramroop to tell him, since when sales and accounts clerks, would do research for a company.
Mr. Lall said that Ramroop never responded to the allegation of spying.

Bharrat Jagdeo

This is in keeping with his attitude of never responding to the issues raised in the pages of Kaieteur News.
“Every time he is confronted with an issue he screams foul and then resorts to character assassination…The country saw the manner in which Kaieteur News exposed the schemes involving himself and Bharrat Jagdeo and this country’s assets.”
According to Mr. Lall, just a few days ago, he was caught trying to grab the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) ground and the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground worth millions of US dollars.
When the secret plan was exposed Ramroop responded through a statement in which he said that the GCC executive approached him with the proposal.
According to Mr. Lall, “he then had the gall to summon the GCC executives to see which of them would have leaked the document.”
Yesterday, the GCC executive in a statement said, they “never approached the New GPC to engage in any business proposal.
“The executive of the Georgetown Cricket Club never met with the Directors of New GPC/CPL OP CO to discuss any proposal.
“It was never the intention of the executives of the Georgetown Cricket Club to make any decision with the New GPC/CPL OP CO without consultation and mandate of membership.”
Ramroop has been involved in numerous other secret deals, including the deal to acquire state assets, including the Sanata complex.
More recently, he was a major beneficiary of this country’s spectrum that included radio, cable and telecommunication.
In almost all these cases he used front men and he remained silent in the face of the revelations.

Lall said too that “it was disgusting, the way he called on the Culture Minister, Dr. Frank Anthony, to investigate the staff of the Archives to find out how Kaieteur News got the photographs.”
“Imagine Ramroop calling for such an investigation! This nation must demand that the President of this country investigate all the secret, dishonest deals that he and his best friend Jagdeo carried out during the years when they were untouchable. No one can forget the Sanata Complex, when Parliament had to rush to legalise an already illegally acquired property worth billions.
Look, let the chips fall where they may. These two men are on a mission to own the whole of Guyana, and they will trample everybody in their path, if they are allowed to.”
