The name Rupee Shewjattan is no strange name in the racing circles, the veteran competitor chalked up one first and a second place at the just concluded Seaboard Marine Caribbean Motor Racing Championship hosted by the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) at the South Dakota Circuit.
Competing in the Group 4 events, Shewjattan, in his Evolution 5 machine, was knocked out of the first race which was won by Paul Vieira followed by Mohan Rangasammy and Irfan Kalamadeen in that order.
But the disappointment of the first race experience only served to add more energy and focus to Shewjattan’s mood and despite starting from the back of the grid in Race Two; he was able to cop the second place behind Vieira who again ended in the top podium spot. Rangasammy had to settle for the final podium spot.
The day would not have ended without Shewjattan not being able to post a win and that he achieved in the final Group 4 race which he won, speeding away from Rangasammy and Vieira in that order.
Shewjattan has expressed gratitude to his sponsors for allowing him yet another opportunity to exhibit his skills once more; Stag Beer, Auto Fashion, Agriculture Parts, Palm Court, Buddy’s Housing, Prem’s Electrical, Auto Color and his many fans.
