A 26-year-old father of two was yesterday sentenced to prison by Magistrate Judy Latchman after she found him guilty of attempting to commit a felony.
Magistrate Latchman told Kelvin Washington that “Blessed is the man that has his own” before informing him that she found him guilty as charged by the police, and that he will be spending the next eighteen months in prison.
The prosecution, who presented three witnesses during Washington’s trial, managed to support their claim that on August 22, in the vicinity of the route 41 bus park, Georgetown, he attempted to steal from Dawn Murray.
The court heard that Washington reportedly pushed his hands into the right side pocket of Murray’s hand bag. The woman raised an alarm, forcing Washington to escape.
He was however later arrested and charged.
