The inaugural Sunburst Linden Schools Under-17 basketball championship will continue today, weather permitting, with two matches at the Mackenzie Sports Club Hard Court.
Organiser of the tournament, the Linden Amateur Basketball Association, is hoping for a break in the inclement weather where only one match day was completed on Tuesday last, where New
Silvercity Secondary defeated Harmony Secondary29-19 and Mackenzie High School scored a 30-22 win over Linden Foundation Secondary.
Matches which were set for the opening day last Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday were all washed out due to rain.
This afternoon’s matches will see New Silvercity Secondary against Linden Foundation Secondary at 2:30pm and the second between Mackenzie High and Wisburg at 4:00pm.
Schools playing in this championship are asked to take note that matches are to be played throughout this week Monday through to Friday in an attempt to have this tournament completed before school closes.
The tournament is being played on around robin basis involving Christianburg Wismar, Wisburg, New Silvercity, Harmony, Mackenzie High and Linden Foundation Secondary with the top four teams advancing to the semifinals and for each win a team gets two points, a loss one point and any forfeiting of matches will see no point going to the defaulters.
Schools are asked to contact LABA’s Organizing Secretary Ashton Angel (jr.) for clarification on the scheduled of matches this week by calling 444-2712 or 644-6657.
