Residents of a section of the Betervewagting Railway Embankment, East Coast Demerara are appealing to the owners of a garbage disposal truck to remove it from a yard it had crashed into since Thursday.
This garbage-laden truck has been perched near this house since Thursday, causing severe discomfort to the residents with its unbearable stench.
The truck which is laden with garbage collected since last week is perched just a few inches from a house belonging to Rajkumarie Ramsaroop, after smashing through the fence of a yard she shares with her mother.
Apart from the damage to the infrastructure, the stench emanating from the days old garbage is causing severe discomfort to not only the Ramsaroops but their neighbours as well.
“Dis thing deh hey so long and dem ain’t coming and move it. If you see worm wha start come out,” Mrs. Ramsaroop told this newspaper.
On Thursday afternoon last, the driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle after crossing one of the bridges on the railway embankment.
The truck then veered off the road and smashed into the Ramsaroop’s fence, before settling in front of their house.
Mrs. Ramsaroop told Kaieteur News that, minutes before the crash, her granddaughter was standing at the same spot where the truck stopped.
“If this lil girl did not move, you ain’s see what would’a happen,” she said.
The police at Beterverwagting are investigating the matter. But in the meantime the residents are desperately calling on the owner to first remove the truck and then settle with them to reconstruct their fence.
