At this time of the year people tend to take more risks, with the result that many of them will not see what most people believe is the greatest day in the year – Christmas Day. The rivers are busy as people try to get to shopping locations for needful things and back home.
This would lead to more accidents on the waterways, as we have seen in the past few days. But what is going to happen is that people with no experience at piloting the boats, would in increasing numbers be asked to actually pilot boats.

The amount of anger in the society at things fashioned from the behaviour of certain Government officials is going to lead to hostilities in numbers previously unheard of in the country. A family would be rent apart when one member is accused of acting selfishly.
The accused member is going to turn violent largely out of embarrassment. This would be one more case for an understaffed police force.

The last time there were protests at this time was some 17 years ago. At the time the protest was over the elections. This time the protests are over what the public servants say is a promised pay increase.
Pay has always been small in the country ever since the local currency experienced devaluation upon devaluation. At the same time, the government has been literally wasting money on projects that went nowhere.
One good thing is that ingrained in people is the need for peace at this time of the year. But the situation does not hold out much for the New Year.
