The Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club (RHTY&SC) as part of its Pro-Education and Anti-Drugs Programme on Tuesday last donated the Best Student Trophy and five medals to the New Amsterdam Secondary School for its Annual Awards Ceremony.
The donation was done by the various cricket teams of the club; Rose Hall Town Farfan & Mendes Under-15, Bakewell Under-17 and Second Division, Pepsi Under-19 and Intermediate, Gizmos & Gadgets First Division and Metro Females. This contribution forms part of the club’s Personal Developmental programme.

Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster who presented the items said that the pursuit of a sound educational background has been the hallmark of the club since its formation in 1990 as it strongly believes that education is the most important asset a person can attain in life.
As Guyana’s leading youth and sports non-governmental organisation, the club is dedicated to assisting youths to fulfill their full potential in sports and education.
For this year, the club’s teams have assisted a total of 38 schools with trophies, medals and sport gear while over $5M worth of educational materials was donated to less fortunate students.
New Amsterdam Secondary, Foster disclosed was very special to him and numerous members who would have attended that institution over the past 38 years. Further assistance has been pledged to the school in the future including a donation of books for the school Library.
Meanwhile, the seven cricket teams of the club are currently preparing for a massive multi-million Christmas Charity Programme that would include a Children Party for 800 kids, senior citizens luncheon for 150 persons, distribution of 500 food hampers to less fortunate families and the distribution of over $500,000 worth of toys to churches, orphanages, youth groups and children in the Rose Hall Town area.
RHTY&SC would also be working closely with the recently reformed St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Youth Club. The Christmas season will climax a highly successive year for Rose Hall Town Youth & Sport Club during which a total of 180 programmes/projects were completed.
