The two athletes will represent the country on Sunday. “It is always the aim of the AAG to send the best to represent us whenever we are sending teams overseas,” the AAG General Secretary, Colonel, Paul Arthur told Kaieteur Sport yesterday.
Arthur wised the athletes well on their sojourn. Forde won the race back in 2010 when Suriname last hosted the stage; Morgan was second in her category. Both athletes indicated that they would want to do better than that result three years ago.
Leslie Black was named as the Coach/Manager of the team. “They’re two senior athletes and we know what they can do. My hope is for Guyana to win both the male and female categories,” the distance-running Coach told this newspaper.
Vice-President of the AAG, Gavin Hope also wished the team well, stating that he hopes that the confidence of the association them will produce the best result. Hop concluded that both Morgan and Forde will do well in the second stage of the 10km race.
