A Grade Nine student of the Vryman’s Erven Secondary School physically attacked the Deputy Head teacher last Friday during the afternoon session.
According to reports, the female student was reportedly loitering at the back staircase of the school when she was approached by the female teacher and reprimanded. The child reportedly resisted and a physical confrontation ensued. The child then ran away from the scene and picked up a piece of wood and pelted the teacher. Luckily, the wood missed the target.
The Department of Education in New Amsterdam is investigating this matter. Students are frequently becoming more and more aggressive towards teachers in schools these days. The student was suspended several times before from school.
Efforts to reach the teacher proved futile.
