Hand-in-Hand’s Marketing Coordinator Andrea Jodhan-Khan hands over the cheque to GCB’s Marketing Manager Raj Singh as GCB Secretary Anand Sanasie shares the moment.
The Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T) and Hand-in-Hand Mutual Group of Companies, have thrown their support behind the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Senior four-day Inter County tournament, scheduled to commence tomorrow with two matches.
Speaking at the launching of the tournament yesterday at GT&T’s head office on Brickdam, GCB Marketing Manager Raj Singh thanked the company for their support stating that after several years of not having a sponsor, the GCB is thrilled to have GT&T as a co-sponsor in 2013.
He noted that the four-day game is the foundation of Test cricket and no doubt needs urgent attention in the West Indies. “Guyana has produced world class cricketers and it is the GCB’s aim to continue this trend. But for lengthy competitions to be of high standard, the GCB needs help from business entities. Hence, we are grateful that GT&T saw the need to get involved”, he added.
Singh said he hopes that this year’s competition will better promote and enhance the talent of the young cricketers in Guyana. “We at the GCB expect that this competition will build on their mental capabilities and develop their other traits of discipline and team work. We also hope that at the end of the tournament the sponsor will be satisfied with its level and intensity,” he stated.
Director of Sales and Marketing and Public Relations of GT & T Roma Narayan Singh said the entity is proud to be part of the tournament.
Meanwhile, Hand-in-Hand, who sponsored the Demerara second division

“We are extremely proud to welcome Hand-in-Hand to our list of growing sponsors this year,” Singh said.
Andrea Jodhan-Khan, Marketing coordinator of Hand-in-Hand disclosed that her Company has been in existence for 147 years and has always supported sports, especially cricket.
“We have worked along with the Berbice Cricket Board and the Demerara Cricket Board in the past and at one time had the longest running second division tournament in Demerara. We are delighted to assist in the development of Guyana’s top cricketers,” Jodhan-Khan said.
The competition will see four teams battling for supremacy. Demerara will face President’s XI at Enmore and Essequibo will take on Berbice at Demerara Cricket Club in the first round.
