A bicycle bandit yesterday received a “good thrashing” from residents of ‘C’ Field Sophia after he grabbed a woman’s laptop and attempted to escape.
Up to press time, he was at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) receiving treatment for the wounds he sustained from the “thrashing.”
According to reports, a young woman was walking on Dennis Street, Sophia when the man and an accomplice, on bicycle, stopped in front of the woman and demanded her laptop which she had in her hand.
The men also collected her cellular phone and attempted to escape, but persons who witnessed what had transpired followed them and eventually caught one of the assailants.
His accomplice managed to escape.
The robber was beaten and then handed over to the police.
At the hospital, the man identified himself as Mark Williams to this newspaper. “Is dem people in Sophia beat me,” he said while hiding his face.
When asked what he did to be beaten, he said, “I did a minor offence.” He however denied stealing a laptop from the woman.
