Dear editor
There is currently a dispute between family members over property, of course. One party is represented by a senior counsel who had been involved at a high level in the political arena. The other party is represented by a counsel who is very active in politics and holds a senior post in one of the political parties.
One of the parties thought it a good idea to know about how much money the other side has. That person tried but could not find out, so his lawyer, the political one, wrote to the bank of the other side and told the bank that that person is his client. The bank must have believed him and issued a bank statement for the person. The person found out and went to the bank and raised hell. The Bank apologized and then wrote a letter to the lawyer recalling the bank statement it had issued.
As a matter of fact the information supplied in the statement was wrong because the person who issued the letter was not a person authorised by the Bank to do so.
Many persons are aware of the scam performed by this lawyer but nothing seems to be done about it.
It will be interesting to know what the Attorney General; Mr. McKay, Mr. Andrew Pollard, Mr Chriswtopher Ram and Mr Anand Goolsarran think about this. The Bar Association should make a statement and demand the suspension of the lawyer and get him off the job as a lawyer.
