A mother of two is still awaiting the results of an investigation that could shed some light as to how her five-year-old son was burnt with a corrosive substance while at school.
The incident, which occurred last Thursday at Campbell’s Trust Nursery School in Grove, East Bank Demerara resulted in a teacher rushing five year old Dilshan Latchman to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where he was treated and sent away.
It was disclosed that during the break period at the Nursery School, the child was burnt on the face, head, neck and shoulders after a bottle containing an acidic substance exploded while he was sitting under an opened window.
The bottle with the substance was perched on the window sill.
Kaieteur news understands that the bottle exploded after another pupil hit it with a stick.
The matter was reported to the Grove Police Station and the head security for the Nursery School promised to investigate how the bottle reached into the compound.
There are allegations that one of the security guards left the bottle with the substance on the school window.
