Hamza Eastman and Toshawanna Doris of District 11 North Georgetown turned in commendable performances to take the 1500m Boys and Girls open races respectively when the National Schools Cycling Championships concluded on Friday evening at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence. Eastman, who also won the 40 Km road
race on Tuesday, overpowered Elijah Brijadder of District 6 Corentyne and Daniel Vossey of District 4 East Coast Demerara in that order enroute to yet another achievement at this level. Doris overcame Jenecia Stanley of District 6, who claimed second and third place Malika Herbert of District 4.
Romello Crawford of District 6 another stand out at the championships carted off the Boys U-16 1500m ahead of Shemar Sears of District 13 South Georgetown and Antonio Sanichar of District 4 respectively.
Denecia Sarmento of District 6 captured the Girls U-16 1500m, while Sonia Campbell of District 15 New Amsterdam took the second podium spot and Jasmin Louisy of District 10 placed third.
Carim Chase of District 7 Bartica copped Boys U-14 1500m title, Rashidi Ceres of District 13 South Georgetown grabbed silver and Kareem Wong of District 15 took silver.
The Girls U-14 1500m was taken by Destheney Lewis of District 15 while Tiana Barker of District 12 placed second and Anya Mc Lean of District 7 third.
Marica Dick of District 15 out sprinted Crystal Lambert of District 6 Corentyne and Naomi Alsop of District 10 Upper Demerara\ Kwakwani in that order to take gold in the Girls 400m open.
Sheriah Melville of District 13 took the honours in the Girls 400m U-16 event, Okel Samuels of District 4 placed second and Miah Mc Pherson of District 10 took third spot.
Teneisha London of District 4 won the Girls U-14 400m, Kenacia Marc of District 12 was second and Deancae Welch of District 6 finished third.
Paul De Nobrega won the devil takes the hindmost in the boys open, while Marcia Dick captured the female segment.
