In giving her Valedictory Address to the 222 new graduates of the University, Brummell noted that they have reached a critical point in their lives. “In terms of jobs…many of us do not know what the future holds, but what we know for sure is that we are all equipped to make a difference in the way we do things.”
She urged her colleagues to move forward courageously “to the uncertain future.”
“Let us do what we have been taught to do best—transform lives.” Brummell then requested that the graduates never “fail to try but continue to strive to make great things happen.”
“Indeed, we are special. We are graduating at this special point in time when the University is celebrating its 50th anniversary.”
She added that her dream was not just to become a qualified teacher, “but the best teacher that there could ever be.”
She began to fulfill that dream four years ago.
