The finals of the Mayor Hamilton Green 79th Birth Anniversary 7-a-side Inter-Ward/Village Football tournament will be played on December 1 at the Den Amstel ground from 14:00hrs with
Eight teams from Georgetown and West Demerara battling for supremacy.
In the quarter-finals action, Sarah Lodge will face North Sophia from 14:00hrs, Pouderoyen will play North La Penitance at 14:30 hrs, Uitvlugt will take on Kitty at 15:00hrs and Den Amstel will challenge South Sophia at 15:30 hrs. The top four teams will then battle for a place in the final the said evening.
Several corporate entities and persons have lent their support to the event so far. Among them are GT&T, MACORP, Chris Fernandes, Ricks and Sari, who will give hampers of their products to members of the winners and runner-up, Trophy Stall, Guyana Lottery Company, New Thriving Restaurant, Eddie Grant and Giftland Office Max.
The winner will collect $100,000 and a Trophy donated by Ramesh Sunich of Trophy Stall Bourda Market, with the runner-up claiming $50,000 and the Ricks and Sari Trophy.
The 7-a-side games are of 20 minutes duration, that’s two halves of 10 minutes, being contested. Three substitutions will be allowed per team during matches with penalties determining a winner in the event of a stalemate.
