City Councilor, AFC member and former longstanding PNC member, Desmond Moses, was found dead yesterday in his Robb Street residence, after a period of illness.
City Mayor Hamilton Green expressed sadness at his passing. He said that Moses was an enthusiastic member of the Council and an exceptional community activist.
“Moses was always active in the community; in fact many on the council staff remember him as one of the most passionate advocates for the establishment of the Bourda Mall. My colleague was an outspoken person who was fearless in his advocacy for community development work.”
Moses functioned as an insurance agent and later joined the Council in 1994. Many remember him as a gentleman who was always keenly interested in community development who had never failed to project the interest of citizens particularly those in the Bourda area.
During his years in the council, Moses worked with civilians and the business community in many areas of city development; he implemented measures to attack both drainage and garbage control.
A member of the council mused over the Councilor’s unforgettable personality. “Moses will be remembered for his emotional outbursts on matters that he believed important that the council was not giving adequate attention.”
Moses is survived by a daughter said to be institutionalized in the United States of America.
