One man has been arrested and is in police custody for the robbery and murder of 46-year-old Vanderlei Kienen, who operated a business in Mahdia, Region Eight.
The body of slain Brazilian businessman Vanderlei Kienen (inset) being collected at the Ogle Airport by Lyken Funeral Parlour employees.
Kienen, a Brazilian National, was robbed at his business place located at 111 Miles Mahdia on Wednesday evening after three men, armed with knives, invaded his business place demanding gold and cash.
During the robbery the man was fatally stabbed by the intruders who reportedly made off with an undisclosed sum of cash and a quantity of gold.
Yesterday afternoon the businessman’s body was flown to the Ogle Airport after which it was taken to the Lyken Funeral Parlour where a post mortem examination is expected to be carried out some time today by government pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh.
Yesterday afternoon Kaieteur News visited a building at Light and First Streets, Alberttown, where the man was known to previously operate. However this publication was informed by persons who are now occupying that building that the businessman no longer operates there. They directed this newspaper to the corner of Regent and Light Streets where the man has an office in the second floor of a four-storey building.
The door to his office was shut tight with a sign that read, “Sorry we are closed today 21-11-2013 until 22-11-2013”
