The best cyclists out of Berbice and other parts of the country will be engaged in stiff rivalry when the Flying Ace Cycling Club stages the Banks Malta Supreme 50 miles Annual Cycle Road Race on Sunday November 24 starting at 09:00hrs.
The riders will pedal off from in front of the Banks DIH Office at Main and New Street; proceed to Nand Persaud Rice Mill, Corentyne, before turning back to the place of origin. Coordinator of the event, Randolph Roberts said that the race is open to cyclists countrywide and prizes will be awarded to the first eight finishers.
The first three junior riders to cross the finish line will also receive special prizes along with the first three females. The first three riders out of the Flying Ace Cycling Club will also receive special prizes as well as the first three veteran riders. There will also be eight sprint prizes along the journey.
Yesterday morning, Sales Manager of Banks DIH (Berbice), Joshua Terrezao, presented the cheque to Mr. Roberts to offset the cost of the event and provide the respective prizes. He wished the organisers well and urged the participants to compete within the confines of the rules.
Mr. Roberts thanked his benefactor and assured that the gift would make the difference in the success of the event.
Another Manager of Banks DIH, Reginald Matthews, will send the riders on their way and return later to assist in the distribution of prizes. Cyclists are asked to be at the starting point at least 30 minutes prior to the prescribed start.
