access the venues free of cost.
In making the presentation, Ganga reminded the organisers – Kashif Muhammad and Aubrey ‘Shanghai’ Major that Bakewell has been in support of the tournament for the past 15 years through its owner, the late Naeem Naseer, a sports fanatic who always advocated youth development.
Ganga informed that one of the last projects that Naseer commissioned before he was called to higher service was the Lawn Tennis Courts at President’s College, underscoring his love for children and youth development.
“With the Kashif and Shanghai Organisation now bringing into being a youth competition, support for this vision was never going to be an issue with Bakewell. We want to let you know that we will be with you all the way and for many years to come. We are confident that this will evolve into a huge tournament that will set a solid foundation for Guyana’s future.”
To date, the organisers have informed that school children will be able to view all matches up to the semi finals and they are continuing efforts to ensure that they are able to get sponsorship that will cover the entire tournament for school children to attend free of cost.
Muhammad in response thanked Bakewell and Ganga for their committed support which has been one of the pillars of success for the tournament over the past 23 years.
