The one day horserace meet organised by the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club and Sports Facilities (RCMTC&SF), Port Mourant Turf Club (PMTC) and the Shariff Business Enterprise and Racing Stable, which was fixed for Sunday November 24th and was rescheduled to Sunday 1st December, has now been further pushed back to Sunday 15th December at the Port Mourant Turf Club, Corentyne Berbice.
This latest change according to the organisers is due to some unforeseen circumstances. The programme remains the same as entries continue to pour in and more sponsors get on board. A whopping $8M in cash, trophies and other incentives are up for grabs.
Eight races are carded for the day with a number of top notch events set to feature, including races for the A class horses, Three year old, two year old, the E and G3 races expected to be the main draw cards.
Over 40 horses have already signed up for the meet, but the animals will now have to ease up on their preparations due to the long time they will have to wait.
The event is expected to see the return of Guyana’s number one racehorse Score’s Even as it throws down the gauntlet against the best of the lot. However it is not expected to get an easy time as horses such as two time Guyana Cup champion Elle’s Vision, Grande de Roja and Settle in Seattle, along with newly imported Rock Movie Star, Money in Return and Some Legend battling against Got To Go, Donut Prince, City Tune, California Strike, CP Got Even, Swing Easy, Prince Charming ,Who is on the Case, The Message, Force Entry, Country Armagh, Red and lovely, Zelick, and Rena Del Cafa among others are all in training and looking good at gallops and should give a good account of themselves.
The winning prize in the main event is a hefty $1.2M and trophy up for grabs in the 6Furlongs race which incidentally in the distance for all the events.
The other races on the day are – the event for 3yrs old Guyana and West Indies Bred horses, for a winning take of $600,000. The E and lower event will also have a first prize of $600,000.
The race for Two Year old Guyana Bred and West Indies Bred maiden horse will have a winner’s purse of $300,000.
The horses running in the G3 and lower class race will also have an opportunity to race away with a first prize of $300,000. Three years old Guyana Bred horses will be competing for a $300,000 first prize.
The ‘I’ and lower race will have a first prize of $200,000. The J, K and L class event will fetch a winning prize of $150,000 and trophy.
Outstanding individual performers including top Jockey, trainer and stable will be presented with accolades compliments of the Trophy Stall Bourda Market and the organisers.
The race will be run under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority (GHRA).
