Pakistani Scholar takes up three year attachment with ACIC
Pakistani Muslim Scholar, Maulana / Qari Muhammad Mujahid Raza has arrived in Guyana to take up a three year attachment with the Anna Catherina Islamic Complex (ACIC) and the Guyana United Sadr Islamic Anjuman (GUSIA/SADR) as an Islamic teacher.
Maulana / Qari Mujahid was born in Lahore, Pakistan and graduated from Kanzul Iman Islamic College in Pakistan. He is an excellent reciter of the Holy Quran as well as a beautiful Qaseeda Singer. Maulana Mujahid, visited Guyana during the last Ramadan and also released his first CD of Qaseedas done in Guyana. 
Before coming in Guyana, he served as a teacher in Trinidad & Tobago. While in Guyana, Maulana Mujahid will serve as the Head of Guyana’s First Sunni Muslim school—Madrasa Nooranie—located at ACIC. This school was established in 2003 (and declared open by then President of Guyana, Bharrat Jagdeo) under the tutorship of another Pakistani Scholar—the Late Maulana Noorul Hadi Haleem who served until his death in 2008. Madrasa Nooranie recently established a branch of Trinidad & Tobago’s Markaz al Ihsan Institute of Higher Islamic Education.
Maulana Mujahid will also be the Spiritual Advisor and Teacher of the Anna Catherina Sunnatul Jamaat and will be associated with activities, classes and programs organized by the Guyana United Sadr Islamic Anjuman (SADR) and the ACIC.
The appointment of Maulana Mujahid, who is a full Sunni (Hanafi) scholar, is a great boost the Muslim community in Guyana, because of the dire need of such a scholar in Guyana. He will be based at the Anna Catherina Islamic Complex but will travel extensively throughout Guyana, especially in Berbice and Essequibo. He will concentrate greatly on the teaching of Urdu as a language to both Muslims and non-Muslims. Maulana Mujahid will also serve as an integral resource to the relationship between the Muslims of Guyana, Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago, Holland, USA, Canada and England.
Masjids and organizations within Guyana desirous of having Maulana Mujahid conduct classes or Khutbats / Lectures at their venues are asked to contact any executive of the ACIC / SADR. The organizations have expressed their thanks to the Government of Guyana for the granting of permission for Maulana Mujahid’s appointment.
