GCA/Noble House Sea Foods cricket…Three bowlers grab 5-wkt hauls after Forrester’s ton

A confident century from Winston Forrester and three five-wicket hauls highlighted action on the opening day in two of the four matches in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/Noble House Sea Foods second division two-day cricket tournament yesterday.
At Malteenoes the 20-year-old right-handed Forrester hammered five fours and 10 sixes in a commanding 126 to register his fourth century at this level as GCC declared 15 minutes before the close at 249-9.

This was after the home team were dismissed for a paltry 36, 11 months after Ace Warriors were bundled out for 50 in the same competition. Nineteen year old Pacer Clayon Critchlow snatched 6-32 from eight overs and got support from seamers Shamar Graham (2-0 from 1 over) and Bernard Bailey (1-4 from 6 overs).
This was the second division 2nd five-wicket haul for Critchlow as Malteenoes, undermined by a string of poor shot selections on a track with a little bit of moisture, collapsed from 21-3 as only Kareem Naughton (13) and Danny Narayan (12) reached double figures for MSC, who were 6-1 in their innings needing 213 to avoid an innings defeat.
On a day blessed with glorious sunshine, GCC raced to 93 without loss by Lunch as Forrester who was missed stumped on 69 off off-spinner Keon Lake, and Martin Pestano-Bell who made 71 with four fours and a six, built a solid foundation for the Bourda Boys.
Forrester dumped Lake back over his head for six to reach three figures with five fours and eight sixes before Pestano-Bell was bowled by national under-19 leg-spinner Steven Sankar who delivered from way behind the wicket, to leave GCC on 188-1.
Forrester, who has been playing for GCC for the past six years, fell off Lake at 215 but GCC suffered a middle order slump losing seven wickets for 34 runs. Cordel Mars bagged 5-59, while Sankar captured 2-57 for the Thomas Lands unit.
At GYO, Third Class were dismissed for 109 as they slipped from 89-2 before the home team responded with 200-3 by the close of day one.
Doodram Moniram (32), Kevin Pellew (25) Keon Bailey (15) and Alvin Castello (14) all wasted useful starts for Third Class as 21 year-old left-arm Trevon France grabbed his fifth five wicket haul at this level and first for GYO.
Cordel Mars
When Chris Deonarine (39) departed at 75-2, Wazir Mohamed who finished unbeaten on 52 with seven fours and Kwame Krosse, who hit six boundaries before he was run out just before the close for 50, featured in a century partnership for the third wicket as GYO extended their lead to 191 going into the final day today.
