Former Queen’s College student, Suzanne Bullen, was recently admitted to the local Bar. Bullen, 27, had her petition presented by retired judge Mr. Winston Moore before Justice James Bovell Drakes.
Bullen had attended St. Margaret’s Primary School and Queen’s College. While at Queen’s College she was an avid debater. She participated in three consecutive J.O.F Haynes debating competitions. She was awarded Best Speaker on various occasions. After completing her studies at Queen’s College, she went to the School of the Nations to study for her ‘A’ level examinations.
In 2003 while she was studying Law for ‘A’ levels at the School of the Nations, Bullen said she decided to leave those studies to go to Cuba to pursue studies in Nutrition Science. After being in Cuba for two years, she returned home in 2005 and then decided to study Law.
Before commencing her law studies here in Guyana, Bullen taught Spanish until 2006, then worked at a bank while doing her pre-Law studies. She started the Law programme at the University of Guyana in September of 2007, and was admitted to the Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad in 2011. She graduated from Hugh Wooding Law School last October.
Bullen intends to practise both in the public and private spheres. Teaching Law is something that she wants to do in the future, she told Kaieteur News.
