Albion Community Centre showed that they are one of the top teams around in any form of the game when they registered an easy win over arch rivals Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets under lights in a feature match of the fourth edition of the Berbice Chamber of Commerce and Development Association (BCCDA) Corporate Business In Sports (CBIS) annual Inter Agency 10/10 cricket competition, exhibition and fun day.
Playing in the specially arranged game of the mega one day activity on Saturday last at the Albion Sports Complex ground, the home team defeated RHTG&G by 41 runs.
With the boundary brought in considerably so as to accommodate the artificial light. National batsman, Jonathan Foo was unforgiving as he blasted the bowling to all parts of the ground, clearing the boundary at will. The pugnacious Foo heaved 13 mighty sixes in a rapid undefeated 80, with 78 of his runs coming vie the sixes route. His last nine scoring shots all went sailing over the boundary for maximums. He took 31 in the final over bowled by Sean Pereira. Foo and former Guyana U19 batsman Kandasammy Surujnarine 65 (8×6, 2×4), blasted 103 in just four overs as their team galloped to 178-2. Test player Sewnarine Chattergoon had earlier made 15(2×4) and national wicketkeeper batsman Anthony Bramble 11(1×6, 1×4).
Bowling for the RGTG&G Pereira and Sherwin Sinclair picked up one wicket each. They in their turn at the wicket showed some fight at first by eventually fell short at 131-3 with national player Rajiv Ivan making 53 (5×6, 4×4) and West Indies batsman Assad Fudadin 45( 5×6,2×4).
Bowling for Albion, Foo took two wickets while West Indies U19 spinner Gudakesh Moti Kanhai grabbed one.
At the presentation ceremony that followed immediately after, the Albion Team was presented with the winner take all amount of $50,000 and the BCCDA trophy. Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets received a trophy. (Samuel Whyte)
