The horserace meet organised by the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club and Sports Facilities (RCMTC&SF), the Port Mourant Turf Club (PMTC) and the Shariff Business Enterprise and Racing Stable of West Berbice, which was fixed for Sunday November 24th has now been has been rescheduled to Sunday 1st December at the Port Mourant Turf Club, Corentyne Berbice.
The programme remains the same as entries continue to pour in and more sponsors get on board. A whopping $8M in cash, trophies and other incentives are up for grabs. Among the sponsors already on board are Trophy Stall Bourda Market, Banks DIH Limited, Omai Transportation Service, Digicel, Delmur Shipping Company, Jumbo Jet, Chris Jagdeo Construction, Inshan Bacchus Trucking Service and Romel Jagroop Construction.
Eight races are carded for the day with feature races for the A class horses, Three year old, two year old, the E and G3 events. With the hefty prize monies on offer, over 40 horses have already been signed up.
The event is expected to see the return of one of Guyana’s leading racehorses, Score’s Even, as it throws down the gauntlet against the best of the lot. However, it is not expected to get an easy time as horses such as two-time Guyana Cup champion Elle’s Vision, Settle In Seattle and California Strike, who have all beaten Score’s Even, along with the newly imported Rock Movie Star, Money in Return and Some Legend will not make life easy.
Reports out of the various stables are that a few more horses are on their way to Guyana and will be in time for the big meet. Those along with the likes Got To Go, Grande de Roja, Donut Prince, City Tune, CP Got Even, Swing Easy, Prince Charming ,Who is on the Case, The Message, Force Entry, Country Armagh, Red and lovely, Zelick, and Rena Del Cafa are all in training and looking good at gallops and should give a good account of themselves.
The winning prizes is a hefty $1.2M and trophy up for grabs in the 6Furlongs race which incidentally is the distance for all the events.
The other races on the day are – the event for 3yrs old Guyana and West Indies Bred horses, for a winning take of $600,000, the E and lower event will also have a first prize of $600,000.
The race for Two Year old Guyana Bred and West Indies Bred maiden horse will have a winner’s purse of $300,000. The horses running in the G3 and lower class race will also have an opportunity to race away with a first prize of $300,000.
Three years old Guyana Bred horses will be competing for a $300,000 first prize. The ‘I’ and lower race will have a first prize of $200,000. The J, K and L class event will fetch a winning prize of $150,000 and trophy.
Outstanding individual performers including top Jockey, trainer and stable will be presented with accolades compliments of the Trophy Stall Bourda Market and the organisers.
The race will be run under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority (GHRA).
