West Berbice face RHT Gizmos & Gadgets; Universal Solutions Bermine face Albion
The historic Albion Community Centre Cricket Club ground will come alive tomorrow when the top cricket clubs in Berbice clash for a spot in the finals of NAMILCO/Bakewell T20 knock-out tournament.
Semifinalists are West Berbice, Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets, Universal Solutions Bermine and Albion Community Centre; several West Indies and national players will be on show in what is anticipated to be an enthralling day of cricket.
Powerhouse Albion Community Centre comes up against Universal Solutions Bermine in the first match bowling off at 09:00hrs while West Berbice and Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets will face off at 13:30hrs.
Albion’s charge will be led by the former WI duo of opener Sewnarine Chattergoon and all-rounder Devendra Bishoo with support from national players Jonathan Foo and Anthony Bramble. Added depth will come from WI Under-19 player Gudakesh Motie-Kanhai, Kandasammy Surujnarine, Sharaz Ramcharran, David Latchaya and Veerapen Permaul.
The absence of Narsingh Deonarine and Veerasammy Permaul should not in any way hinder Albion from making it into the final.
Bermine, on the other hand will be harboring thoughts of an upset, their challenge will be led by national opener Shemroy Barrington, Devon Clements, Eugene La Fleur, Joemal La Fleur, Romario Shepherd and Anthony D’Andrade with able support from wicketkeeper Hakeem Hinds, Damon Vantull, Nial Smith and Keon De Jesus.
The feature game tomorrow between West Berbice and RHT Gizmos & Gadgets will see the former banking on a trio of fast bowlers as they seek to undermine the batting strength of RHT Gizmos & Gadgets.
Former West Indies Test placer Brendon Bess, national pacer Keon Joseph and the exciting Raun Johnson have engineered turbulent times for batsmen lately and will be hoping to continue in similar vein.
They will not be alone as more help can be expected from players the likes of Arthley Bailey, Krisendat Ramoo, Keith Fraser and Raffiel Estriado. West Berbice recently reached the finals of the Universal DVD T20 tournament where they lost to Bermine but would have to bring their ‘A’ game if they hope to get past a RHT line up that consists of WI Test player Assad Fudadin, ODI specialist Royston Crandon and national player Rajiv Ivan.
Dominique Rikhi, Eon Hooper, Jason Sinclair, Shawn Pereira, Clinton Pestano and Shailendra Shameer are all exponents of the game who are match winners also. The final is scheduled for Sunday November 17.
