While renovation work was recently conducted at the Berbice High Court at
Vryheid and Esplanade Road in New Amsterdam no thought was given to making the facility friendly to the elderly, handicapped and differently abled.
These persons are left to the mercies of the elements on a regular basis and often times depend on the kindheartedness of persons visiting the court or the staff.
The situation at the Berbice High Court like in many other government, public and private buildings; it is totally impossible for such persons to access services at these buildings. These buildings like the High Court have no ramps for the disabled or otherwise challenged persons.
Attorney General Mohabir Anil Nandlall would visit the Berbice High Court on a regular basis and could use some of the time to pay attention to this oversight.
This physically challenged man in a wheel chair was being assisted by a kindhearted staff at the Berbice High Court, recently.
Scenes like these are daily occurrences in and around Guyana.
