…less than a mile from where father was killed
Mention the Georgetown Seawall and it is not likely to go down well with the Orderson family of Meadowbrook Gardens.
On Wednesday night, Jarrad Orderson was sitting in his Toyota Allion motorcar, PNN 6924, near the seawall, less than a mile from where his father Thomas was shot dead eight years ago, when someone placed a gun to his head.
The man said that during the ordeal thoughts of his father’s death flashed through his head but fortunately this time around, he was spared a similar fate to the one his father suffered back on December 4, 2005.
He was ordered from the vehicle by one of two male individuals. The men then entered the car and drove away. To date he has no clue as to where they took it.
Speaking with this newspaper yesterday, Jarrad Orderson said that he was driving along the seawall alone in his car when he stopped to purchase something from one of the many vendors near the 1823 Slave Rebellion Monument.
After making the purchase, he returned to his car and sat for awhile, making a telephone call.
“All I feel was a gun, a shotgun, to my head, and a guy told me to come out the car. He forced me to lie down on the grass,” Orderson recalled.
Another man jumped into the driver’s seat of Orderson’s car and backed up for his accomplice who was holding the victim at gunpoint to get into the passenger seat.
The men then sped away with Orderson’s car.
There was only one other car in sight, but it was parked a reasonable distance away, and the occupants could not see what was taking place with Orderson. However, after the men went away with his car, the young Orderson managed to get their attention and their assistance to go after the men in his car.
But by then the men had vanished after heading along Vlissengen Road.
The matter was reported to the Brickdam Police Station and an investigation is underway.
On December 4, 2005, Orderson’s father Thomas, an Assistant Manager at Citizens Bank and an outspoken football executive, was sitting in his car on the seawall behind the National Insurance Scheme ground when gunmen pumped several bullets into his chest.
His death remains one of the many unsolved murders in Guyana.
Meanwhile, Jarrad Orderson is offering a reward to anyone who could provide information that leads to the recovery of his car.
Apart from the nearest police station, they can contact telephone numbers 694-8309 or 672-3048.
