Anthony Adams XI and Mark Gonsalves XI played to a draw when the New Opportunity Corps Sports Club (NOCSC) cricket developmental programme continued with a two day match recently at NOC ground on the Essequibo Coast.
Gonsalves XI batted first and managed 186 before they were bowled out in 56 overs. David Williams and Akieni Adams scored 30 each and Mahindra Persaud supported with 20. Neiland Cadogan bagged 3-18, Anthony Adams 3-28 and Shane Wong 2-21. Adams XI replied with 161 with the skipper leading the way with 85 while Isaiah Latchman made 32 and Aquacy Adams 24; Akeini Adams claimed 4-41. Leading by 25 runs Gonsalves XI declared their second innings on 120-2. Gonsalves blasted 61, Alex Etwaroo and David Williams chipped in with 23 and 22 respectively.
Set 146 for victory Adams XI reached 49-6 at stumps on the final day. Akieni Adams snared 2-9.
In an invited comment Coach Forbes Daniels said another game is planned for this weekend. He stated that it is important that the longer version of the game to be played in Essequibo since most of the competitions there are limited overs.
