Reigning Mr. Guyana Kerwyn Clarke has promised to entertain the crowd come Saturday evening when the inaugural Muscle Explosion Bodybuilding Show comes off at Kaylee’s Resort, Coverden, East Bank Demerara.
Clarke, who won a bronze medal at this year’s Central American and Caribbean Championships that were held in the Dominican Republic, told Kaieteur Sport he has been focusing on his CAT studies and training for the past few months but will be doing something special for the fans.
He has offered kudos to the organisers of this event and the Guyana Amateur Body Building and Fitness Federation (GABBFF) for putting on a show of this magnitude in a non-traditional bodybuilding area.
“I think the idea and execution is commendable which can only see the sport developing and becoming even more popular. I think it will also bring more persons on board in terms of sponsorship which is a win, win situation for all.”
A number of former Mr. Guyana winners are expected to be competing on stage on Saturday including Clint Duke and Oswin Jones. Devon Davis, 2013 CAC gold medalist will also be in contention for the Mr. Muscle Explosion crown.
Competition categories will be Under 143, Under-155, Under-165, Under 176 and Over 176 among the male athletes, while five females will challenge each other in the Ms. Bikini contest.
The show, which is organised by the Total Fitness Gym of Soesdyke and coordinated by Videsh Sookram, will commence at 19:00hrs. Patrons are assured that secured parking will be available.
