The 20-year-old East La Penitence, Georgetown resident who was shot to the right side of his face early Friday by two bandits on bicycles, is yet to be seen by a doctor at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
Linton Trotman, of Lot 193 Middle Road, La Penitence is hospitalized in the health institution’s Male Surgical Ward with a bullet still lodged in his jawbone.
He claimed that since he was admitted to the hospital on Friday, no medical practitioners have met with him to discuss his surgery.
Trotman was shot around 04:00 am on Friday by two bandits on Cooper Street, Albouystown while he was on his way home from a party.
Yesterday, at the hospital, the 20-year-old told Kaieteur News that the only time he was seen by a doctor was on Friday. “When I went in the A&E (Accident and Emergency Unit) I was seen by a doctor and he told me that he cannot do anything and that the doctors who would do the surgery would deal with it.”
“Since then, no doctor came to see me or tell me anything. The bullet is still in my jaw and I’m getting terrible headache,” the 20-year-old stressed.
According to Trotman, whenever he complained about having a severe headache, the nurses would give him painkillers which he said would only help for a few hours.
Chief Executive officer, Michael Khan when contacted said that the patient was seen by a maxillofacial surgeon and was discharged from the institute. He has to visit the Cheddi Jagan Dental School.
However, Khan did not mention anything about the bullet still lodged in the patient’s jawbone.
