Lynden Archer Graham is an overseas-based entrepreneur and former “Champion Boy” of Christ Church Secondary School. He decided to give back to his alma mater in the form of trophies, medals, gifts and monetary awards. However, in a conversation with his daughters Tiffany and Oneka Graham, he was promptly reminded; “Don’t forget the females.”
In hearing this comment, he realized that the “Champion Girl” must be recognized.
After contact was made with the Headmistress Ms. Sharon Smith, Mr. Archer Graham was informed that there is also a junior champion boy and girl category and asked if he would like to make a contribution there also. To fulfill the school’s wishes, he accepted, since his gesture is to inspire greatness in the field of athletics in the school.
This year, Christ Church Secondary School annual inter-house school sports were held on September 26 at Eve Leary Police Ground. The award ceremony was held on October 4, at the school’s auditorium where the winners were honoured.
Mr. Archer Graham donated the Champion’s Cup and Gold Medals to the senior champion boy and girl; the Champion’s Trophy to the junior champion boy and girl, along with gifts and monetary awards. He also donated the champion house cup; and honored the sports co-coordinator with a medal and award for coaching the event.
These contributions and more will be made annually by Mr. Graham to Christ Church Secondary School for its inter- house school sports.
In the near future, he will be donating trophies and other awards to the inter-school champions and the national high school champions at the track and field events. His impetus is the youths are our future, so let’s inspire them.
