– in semis of fourth Brusche’s Classic
The stage is set for tonight’s fourth Brusche’s Basketball Foundation Classic semifinal that is expected to be a prelude of what one can expect in tomorrow night’s final at the Mackenzie Sports Club Hard Court.
With a guaranteed Georgetown versus Linden clash on the cards, basketball fans are looking forward to see what will happen when Pacesetters, the two time champions, come up against Ravens, beginning 7:30pm. The Kings against Wismar Pistons, the only Linden club to have won this championship, game will follow.
Kings entered this phase of the tournament having won their game against Bankers Trust Falcons 78-58, a game that was played on Wednesday at the Mackenzie Sports Club Hard Court, while the second game between Wismar Pistons and Half Mile Bulls was concluded Thursday, with Pistons winning 69-53, after rain forced the game to be stopped in the fourth quarter Wednesday night.
The Pacesetters game will see Travis Burnett, after scoring 21 points, in their game against Amelia’s Ward Jets last Sunday, leading their challenge in the company of a host of other quality players. Ravens will look to come out on top in a battle of the leading City teams.
The Kings are looking stronger in every game and could be favoured to get past this Pistons lineup. The Kings’ main players all have found their form with forward, Omally Sampson hitting a game high 25 points in the win over Bulls; he was supported by Steve Neils (Jr.) with 19 and the contributions of Orin Rose 11 and Marvin Hartman and Abdulla Hamid 11 each made good for reading the strengths of the Kings.
Whether the only team from linden to win this championship the Wismar Pistons are in a position to stop this Kings side is another matter. The Pistons have recalled veteran Robert Byass to their side and has guard, Mark Louis, Quincy Jones and forward Trevor Profitt to steer them tonight.
The Pistons showed good form against the half Mile Bulls and rallied to win after trailing for most of the game. Profitt returned to the Pistons with 20 points and Louis hit 19 but the support staff will have to contribute adequately if they are to beat Kings.
