Colts Basketball Club and Ravens will clash tonight in what is expected to be an epic battle with Ravens having more at stake against a team that defeated them to take the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) Division I playoff title earlier this year.
The two teams will play in the second game of the 2013 Brusch’s Basketball Classic at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall tonight at 7pm after Trinity Grid Holdings (TGH) Pacesetters defeated the Amelia’s Ward Jets Sunday night in the tournament’s opening game.
Colts is known for turning defeat into victory; after facing an extinctive period following the lost of founding father, Phillip ‘One Foot’ George two years ago, the team has rebuilt its structure on youth and has cemented its place in Georgetown as a formidable side.
However, Ravens will want to erase their last defeat against Colts with an impressive victory but standing in their way is an energy offensive duo, Shelroy and Sheldon Thomas, whose scoring is nothing short of prolific. Ravens will have to shut them down to win.
In addition, Colts’ Nicko Fraser and Dane Kendall have been re-energised with the new breed of player. Sheldon has been ‘money’ from downtown and his brother pure magic in the paint, while the older players Fraser and Kendall have offered the right support.
Colts’ swingman, Dave Causway has led the team with immense experience and skill, turning an old empire into an innovative running unit. Ravens loss earlier this year prompted Sereah Clarke to admit that his team may be in a slump.
For Ravens, guard/forward, Akeem Kanhai, Ryan Gullen and Dominic Vincente will try to offer some resistance to a team that believes they are the best in Georgetown, however flawed that belief may be. Nets will play Pepsi sonics in the first game tonight.
