Police and Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) recorded victories when play in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)\ Carib Beer first division T\20 competition commenced yesterday at the Police Sports Club ground Eve Leary.

Police defeated Guyana Defence Force (GDF) by 7 wickets in the first fixture which was reduced to 7 overs due to damp spots on the pitch. GDF batted first and scored 53-4 off their allotted overs with Dillon Heyliger top scoring with 35 (3×4,2×6). Trevor Benn captured 2-7. Police replied with 54-3 in 6.5 overs. Rawle Brown led with 19 and Sheldon Alexander made 17. Steven Harris, Dennis Legay and Heyliger had one each.
GCC got the better of Transport Sports Club by 50 runs in the afternoon encounter. Skipper Leon Johnson 31 (3×4,1×6), Vishal Singh 25 (4×4), Jeetendra Sookdeo 22 (3×4) and Robin Bacchus 17 (3×4) were GCC leading batsmen as they rattled up 144-8 off 20 overs, batting first. Steven Alves claimed 3-20 while Azeem Azeez snared 2-19 while Jonathan Alphonso picked up 1. Transport hardly threatened in response and were restricted to 94-7 in 20 overs. Charwayne Mc Pherson scored 22( 1×6) while Quincy Proctor made 18 (1×40 and Ryan Hemraj 13. Johnson grabbed 2-9 and Bacchus 2-20 while there was a wicket each for Raj Nanan and Chindanand Shivram.
