Alonzo Greaves notched up his 21st win of the season when he crossed the finish line comfortable ahead of Robin Persaud and Raynauth Jeffrey in the feature, school boys and invitational 35-lap contest at the 2nd Payless Variety Store 11-Race Cycle Meet held at the National Park, yesterday.
The Roraima Bikers Club (RBC) member rolled over the line in One Hour 18 Minutes 07.05 Seconds to beat last year’s winner, Persaud who had clocked One Hour 18 Minutes 42.19 Seconds.
Greaves won three of the prime prizes on offer, Jeffrey two and Persaud one. Enzo Matthews copped fourth place whilst fifth and sixth went to Hamza Eastman and Alex Mendes, respectively, closing out the top six of an event that was described as successful by Managing Director of Payless Variety Store, Joseph Ramkumar.
Ramkumar, who witnessed the exciting final event, complimented the riders for making the activity a success and promised that the third edition, next year, will be more rewarding in terms of the prizes.
The businessman took the opportunity to present a gift to organizer Hassan Mohamed who will be celebrating his 68th birthday, tomorrow. Manager of Payless variety Store Lisa Ramkumar presented the gift to Mohamed.
