A local construction company has introduced a new way of applying road markings.
Gaico Construction Inc., which is involved in Government contracts, has worked on a pilot project to demonstrate how the Thermoplastics works.
“Once again we are trying to raise the standard within the construction and service industry.
We all have seen the frequency of marking of lines on our roadway and the quality of these marking. With the use of Thermoplastic, Gaico is guaranteeing 3-5 years life span.”
According to the construction company, its products carry illuminated beads inside, making it easier for drivers to operate in the nights.
The company has used the Thermoplastic ruling on both the eastern and western entrances for the Demerara Harbour Bridge.
An expert, Dan Brocksmith from Florida Transcor Inc., is in Guyana to help train Gaico’s employees.
Gaico, in its statement, said it is now urging Government to use the material with a view to improve the road markings in Guyana.
“While there is a high initial cost for the use of this product, you can see the benefit over a longer period.”
