Parika defeated High Park by 48 runs to win the Roberts Gas Station Twenty\20 round robin competition when action in the final preliminary round continued last Sunday in East Bank Essequibo.
Playing at Parika Salem ground, the host rattled up 124-9 off their allocation of 20 overs after taking first strike. Sase Narine top scored with 26 (1×4,2×6) while Jason Heyliger made 13 (2×4); Extras contributed 26. Rafeek Mohamed claimed 3-14 and Inshan Mohamed 2-32. High Park were routed for 76 in 18.1 overs in reply. Dhanraj Champalall scored 14 (2×4) while Nandram Lallaram made 12 (1×4,1×6) and extras contributed 12. Trevor Benn captured 3-27, Narine 2-5 and Hemchand Persaud 2-18.
At Hydronie, the host overcame Philadelphia by 34 runs. Led by a fine century from Ashmead Bacchus Hydronie posted 210-4 after the game was reduced to 17 overs, batting first. Bacchus smashed fourteen fours and eight sixes in scoring 125 and got support from Shivindra Hemraj with 27 (3×4). Philadelphia responded with 176-6 in 17 overs with Michael Goberdhan leading the way with 90 (10×4,5×6) while Gowkarran Debi made 28 (2×4,3×6). Ajit Seodat picked up 3-25.
The presentation ceremony will be done at a date to be announced. Meanwhile, the Kayo Super Centre and variety store 40 over tournament is expected to commence shortly.
